How can my skin improve with laser treatments?

Dr. Babaian and her staff have extensive experience using several advanced lasers to improve your skin and fight signs of aging.

Their expertise in multiple lasers is essential for customized treatment because one laser can’t address all skin concerns. Each laser has a different wavelength and pulse, which determine the results produced by the device.

How is skin resurfacing done with laser treatments?

Skin resurfacing is best known as a treatment that removes one or more layers of damaged skin. While lasers and other treatments, like chemical peels, can safely resurface your skin, your provider specializes in another laser technique that doesn’t eliminate the tissues.

The practice uses the clear + brilliant® fractional laser to resurface your skin from below the surface. The fractional laser sends many tiny light beams through your skin, reaching cells below the surface and activating collagen and elastin production.

As new skin reaches the surface, the boost of collagen and elastin makes it firmer and more elastic than old skin. This improves skin texture and tone and eliminates fine lines and wrinkles.

How do laser treatments eliminate brown spots and spider veins?

Some lasers, including intense pulsed light (IPL) and Nd:YAG lasers, use varying wavelengths and pulses to target discolorations like brown spots and reddish-blue veins.

These colors absorb a specific wavelength, but the same wavelength doesn’t affect your skin or the surrounding tissues. Your provider uses IPL and Nd:YAG lasers to treat problems like:

  • Age spots (sun spots)
  • Freckles
  • Spider veins
  • Rosacea
  • Birthmarks
  • Enlarged pores
  • Moderate acne
  • Red lesions from broken capillaries
  • Melasma (brown patches that often appear during pregnancy)
  • Actinic keratosis (precancerous brown spots)
  • Seborrheic keratosis (non-cancerous brown, tan, or black spots)

The colors break down as they absorb the laser’s heat. Your body naturally eliminates the cellular waste, forever eliminating the problem.

How do laser treatments remove hair?

Laser hair removal (LHR) works like the above treatments for skin discolorations. The darker color in the hair follicle absorbs the laser’s light energy, and the heat destroys the follicle and stops it from growing hair.

To eliminate all the unwanted hair, you’ll need 2-6 laser hair removal treatments spaced a month or more apart.
